Former YouGov Global COO Takes Reins at Milieu Insight

September 18 2024

Singapore-based MR and analytics platform Milieu Insight has appointed former YouGov Global COO Sundip Chahal as its new Chief Executive. Founder Gerald Ang moves to focus on product innovation.

Sundip ChahalMilieu was launched in 2017 by former GfK and YouGov exec Ang (pictured right), and boosted by rounds of venture capital in 2019 and 2021, totalling almost $7.5m. Its flagship platform Canvas promises intuitive tools for survey design and distribution, analysis, data visualization and reporting, and provides access to 'Portraits' profiling data on Milieu's panel of more than two million Southeast Asian consumers. Clients are in a range of sectors including consumer brands, media agencies and government organisations.

Chahal (pictured left) worked at YouGov for eighteen years, overseeing its growth from fifteen people to more than 3,000 across 60 countries. He also led the firm's middle eastern company YouGov Siraj and served as its CEO for MENA & Emerging Markets, prior to taking the Global COO role in 2014.

Ang says the appointment is 'a fantastic opportunity to accelerate the company's global ambitions', freeing him to focus on innovation and business strategy. He comments: 'With Sundip on board, we're entering a new phase of growth. His experience and network will be invaluable as we expand into new markets, particularly the US and UK'.

Chahal says his focus in the new role will be on 'enabling the vision already in place' at Milieu. He explains: 'We're taking what's been articulated locally and expanding it globally. The potential here is enormous, and I'm excited to help realise it'.
