In the UK, full service qual and quant market research consultancy Opinium Research has reported a 31% increase in sales for the trading year 2009/10.Opinium was launched in 2007 by YouGov's former Head of Market Research Mark Hodson, with the aim of providing the 'handmade' feel of traditional market research in the online marketplace.
MD James Endersby says the 2009/10 results have been driven by both a continued increase in the firm's client base and an expanded service offering, including an emphasis on B2B research, a dedicated panel of IFAs, and its bespoke 'Brand Check' tool.
At the end of last year, the firm partnered with the Daily Express to launch a UK political poll to track voter intention on a weekly basis ahead of the 2010 general election.
'In only three years Opinium has become an established player, working with big name global brands,' states Endersby. 'This has been a fantastic 12 months for us, and a growth in sales after such a tough time for businesses in general is a great result.'
Earlier this year, the firm appointed former UK MD Panos Manolopoulos as a non-executive Director on its Board.
