UK record label trade body the BPI has established a new Innovation Panel, through which it will share consumer research, help identify and value market opportunities, and provide a forum for dialogue with labels on service design and market strategy. The BPI (British Phonographic Industry), which also organises the annual BRIT Awards, is funded by its members who account for approximately 90% of all recorded music sold in the UK.
Its new panel has been developed to offer support to new and established digital music service operators; a market which was worth more than £280m in 2009.
BPI CEO Geoff Taylor states: 'The BPI Innovation Panel has been created to offer new and existing digital music operators and record labels a forum where they can share consumer insight and drive innovation to meet the different aspirations and needs of every kind of music consumer.'
