Manhattan-based quant market research specialist Eric Marder Associates (EMA) is to close after more than 50 years in business. Founder Eric Marder, who is now in his 80s, has decided it's time to 'pursue other interests'.EMA was established in 1960, with a mission to build a theory of what happens when people make choices, and how to predict, measure and influence those choices.
Marder presented this theory in his book 'The Laws of Choice: Predicting Customer Behavior', which tracks how customers decide what products and brands they buy, through the analysis of original data gathered from thousands of real-life experiments based on millions of interviews.
EMA's former President Hal Hendler and SVP Judy Winzemer have joined global healthcare research specialist A+A Research to open a New York office.
In their new roles, Hendler, who worked for EMA for 35 years, becomes Managing Director, US, while Winzemer takes up the position of Vice President, after 28 years in her previous post.
