Australian market research and polling company Roy Morgan Research is to open an operation in India, following the roll out of its Single Source survey across the country. The Single Source survey will have an annual sample size of around 260,000 respondents, and encompass the attitudes and values, habits and beliefs, political and social opinion of Indians from all socio-economic strata. It will also examine brand preference and consumer behaviour spanning more than 1500 brands.
Feedback will be used to drill down into specific product categories and target groups, and will enable comparisons across metropolitan areas, other urban regions and rural India.
The survey has been fielded in Australia for several decades, and was rolled out in Indonesia five years ago.
Roy Morgan India will conduct the first quarter's fieldwork during July-September and deliver the first database to clients in November.
CEO Michele Levine says the company has been in discussion with advertisers, agencies and the media in India 'over the last few years', helping it to understand the market's 'idiosyncrasies and unique needs'.
