WPP's consumer insight group Kantar has acquired the remaining shares in Lanka Market Research Bureau (LMRB), in which it already had a 49% stake. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.Established in 1981, LMRB was the first independent market research consultancy in Sri Lanka. It now employs 81 people in Colombo, and has field offices in Galle and Kandy. Gross revenues for 2010 were LKR 175 million (c.£1.02m).
As well as quant and qual market research services, the company operates a household panel, a People Meter-based audience measurement system and a National Media Survey, and tracks radio listener data.
LMRB is run by Himalee Madurasinghe, who was promoted to the post of Chief Executive Officer in July, after fourteen years with the firm.
