In the UK, WPP-owned media agency MEC has bolstered its Analytics and Insight team with the appointment of former BSkyB exec Jonathan Edwards as Data and Technology Services Director, with a remit to help integrate data into clients' marketing strategies.As well as its core skills in media planning and buying, MEC offers sports and entertainment marketing; digital solutions focused on strategy, content, and customer acquisition; and global insight and analytics services.
Edwards joins from BSkyB, where for the past five years he served as Senior Commercial & Analysis Controller, in charge of a team with a focus on modelling for strategic planning, forecasting, and analysis. Prior to this he was a Consultant at Deloitte, implementing business intelligence software and working on strategic research.
In his new role, Edwards joins MEC's 27-strong team involved with analytics, technology, social insights and research.
David Fletcher, Head of Analytics and Insight, comments: 'We needed somebody with experience in dealing with event-level data - somebody who can understand millions of records, not just small sample sets - and Jonathan's experience will enable us to further integrate this data into our clients' marketing strategies.'
