In San Francisco, execs responsible for the introduction of the Starbucks Card Mobile and Dunkin' Donuts Mobile solutions have launched a mobile commerce firm, Cardfree, with the aid of $10m in Series A funding. The new platform accepts payments from mobile devices, browsers, or at the point-of-sale, and enables companies to deliver targeted offers and customer analysis. It also promises to help clients influence behavior, learn more about existing customers, and segment the customer base. Performance and data analytics from individual transactions and trends in behavior can be viewed through a built-in dashboard.
Cardfree has been backed with a financing round led by Chairman Jeffrey Katz, the founder of payments processor Mercury Payments Systems, who comments: 'There is a gap in the market for seamless merchant solutions that integrate mobile, online and POS, and merchants are going to be a big driver of mobile commerce in the near future. The Cardfree team is uniquely positioned with the knowledge, experience and connections to continue to lead innovation in the space.'
