WPP-owned media investment management company GroupM is set to acquire a majority stake in Vietnam-based full service social media marketing agency ClickMedia. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.Founded in 2008, ClickMedia provides a range of social media strategy services including listening, crisis prevention and management, and campaign strategy and implementation. Its research and insights services include influencer research, and brand listening through a proprietary tool called Boomerang. The agency employs 55 people, and last year had unaudited revenues of VND 23.7 billion.
Co-founder Nguyen Thi Hai Ha (pictured) says joining GroupM 'will help us empower brands to reach a higher level of engagement with their consumers, deliver their marketing messages, and ultimately improve their ROI.'
In Vietnam, WPP companies (including associates) generate revenues of US$65m and employ approximately 1,000 people. WPP said the buy continues its development in fast-growth markets and sectors, while strengthening the group's digital media capabilities.
