UK-based footfall counting and analysis specialist Ipsos Retail Performance has opened an office in Toronto, Canada, with the aim of servicing retailers across North America. The division provides footfall monitoring solutions, shopper tracking systems and in-store behavioral research, and monitors more than 1.2 billion visits a year in 8,000 stores worldwide. Through a range of solutions, it also helps retailers measure and monitor the entire customer experience - from the moment they start browsing shop windows, to how they enter shops, to where they walk, what they look at, how they interact with staff and ultimately if they buy.
Last year, Ipsos Retail Performance launched a range of online reporting tools to analyse store performance; a Shopper Insights suite to help understand and interpret traffic and transactional data; and a facial analysis technology called Shopper Profile to offer retailers a better understanding of the demographics and behaviour of their customers. In addition, the division offers a Retail Traffic Index tracker of national, regional and sector retail footfall trends; and is a co-founder of the KPMG/Ipsos Retail Think Tank, which provides an unbiased view of what is happening in the retail sector.
The division is already working with a number of retailers across the US and Canada, and President Peter Luff (pictured) explains: 'This is an important strategic step for the company as we begin to serve even more retailers around the world. Our North American footprint has grown significantly in the past 12 months and we believe this is down to our innovative approach and the accuracy of our data which helps retailers to optimize their sales conversion rates.'
