In India, market research and business consulting firm Unspun Consulting Group has raised $250k in a first round of funding, which it will use to roll out a proprietary 'market discovery tool' called Act.Founded last year by marketer Som Singh (pictured), Unspun is based in Bangalore, with additional offices in Chennai and Mumbai. The firm enables brands to connect with their audiences through research-led campaigns, and the Act tool examines how customers react to different marketing channels. In addition, the firm uses an ideation model which taps into ethnographic observation and theories.
Funding has been led by four unnamed angel investors, and Singh comments: 'This funding is a gesture of the confidence our investors have in the team's capability to take market research and consultancy higher by a few notches. We aim to add more dimension and perspective to marketing consultancy by creating research models that address market gaps and demonstrate what integrated marketing for start-ups should encompass.'
