US company Precision Opinion, which provides market research field services to the entertainment industry and political polling for the government, has opened a mobile division, Turning Point Research, at its headquarters in Las Vegas. The new division is developing a free mobile data collection app which will be available on both Apple and Android platforms. Users will download the app, register for an account and then immediately begin taking surveys - with a cash incentive deposited directly into their PayPal account.
Through the app, respondents will be able to watch and give opinions about video clips using a real-time slider, or answer follow up questions after the video is watched; record their voice answers; and capture and submit images. Users will be tracked when they enter a specific area or store, and the Turning Point Research team will then send them 'push notifications' to take a relevant survey, as well as collecting passive data around app users' habits.
Company President Jim Medick (pictured) comments: 'It is time for market research to get with the times. We couldn't be more thrilled about the technology and developments that are occurring in our new division.'
