TNS has promoted Chaitanya Reddy to the newly created role of Political & Social Director, Mekong Region, adding Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar to his existing responsibility leading Political & Social research in Vietnam.Reddy, who has held the Vietnam post since March 2012, will be based between Hanoi and Bangkok and will report to Ralf Matthaes, Regional Managing Director for the Mekong. He starts his new role from June 1st.
Chaitanya began his career in India and held roles with the Social and Rural Research Institute of TNS's sister company IMRB, and with the Centre for Science Development and Media Studies, where he focused on e- Governance and development. He joined TNS in 2010.
TNS notes that the Mekong Region, which has a population of over 270 million, is still one of the poorer regions in the world. According to Chaitanya, 'Development aid organisations across the Mekong are looking to really build an understanding of the lives and challenges of people on the ground.'
Matthaes says of the promotion: 'We have seen the demands of our development aid clients grow significantly in recent years as this part of the world sees rapid and sustained change. Chaitanya has demonstrated strong leadership and a great understanding of our clients' context...'
