Gartner has announced that its Chief Financial Officer Chris Lafond is leaving the company at the end of the month to 'pursue other opportunities', and will be replaced by Craig Safian, who currently serves as Group VP of Global Finance.
Lafond, who has served as CFO since October 2003, joined the company in 1995. He began his career as an Investment Analyst at JP Morgan, before serving as a Senior Financial Analyst at IBM, where he worked for nearly four years.
Safian (pictured) joined the company in 2002, since when he has held a number of senior roles in the finance department, including Head of Corporate and Divisional Finance, Corporate Development, Strategy and Pricing. Before joining Gartner, he worked at IT consultancy Headstrong as Senior Director, Global Planning and Analysis; at Bristol-Myers Squibb as Senior Manager of Finance; and as an Accountant at Friedman LLP.
CEO Gene Hall comments: 'We thank Chris for his years of outstanding service to Gartner, his stewardship of the finance organization and his key role in developing great talent. As a result, we are fortunate to have a deep bench in our finance organization, and Craig Safian reflects that strength. He understands our business completely, has been a key advisor to me and the senior management team for many years, and brings deep experience and integrity to the role.'
