US-based survey and panel management software firm Kinesis Survey Technologies has enhanced its offer to add survey research options for users of in-store 'beaconing' for smartphones.Beacon technology, which can be located in stores and shopping malls, picks up signals from shoppers' Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices, and sends them location-relevant targeted sales and promotion alerts based on their physical location within the building.
Kinesis has now made its software compatible with apps that interact with beacons, to enable clients to obtain feedback via surveys and consumer communities. Its tools can be integrated with existing retailer apps, or third-party apps that use beaconing to dispense coupons, or provide shopper incentives and enhanced product information. In addition, Kinesis' panel management solution can now be used to combine in-store activity with traditional research methodologies.
Leslie Townsend, Kinesis CEO, explains: 'Kinesis offers a survey solution triggered by beacons, and with the ability to reward shoppers on the spot with the same reward mechanisms for research that are used with beaconing today. Retail and third-party apps can tap into a comprehensive research platform via a simple integration to enhance their overall value proposition and more readily monetize their apps.'
