UK television marketing body Thinkbox has appointed Channel 5's insight leader Matt Hill as Research and Planning Director. He will join in early 2015, replacing Neil Mortensen who is leaving to become Director of Planning and Research at ITV.
Thinkbox was founded in 2005 to help the main UK commercial broadcasters understand how audiences engage with TV advertising. Its shareholders are Channel 4, ITV, Sky Media, Turner Media Innovations and UKTV, which together represent more than 90% of commercial TV advertising revenue through owned and partner TV channels.
Hill (pictured) has worked at Channel 5 since 2006, and is currently Head of Planning and Insight and the broadcaster's representative on the BARB Board. Prior to Channel 5, he was Research Manager at Virgin Media, and Sales and Research Executive at David Graham and Associates (Media Consultancy).
In his new role, Hill will be responsible for Thinkbox's Research and Planning teams, and will sit on the Thinkbox Board. He will report to CEO Lindsey Clay who comments: 'We had an exceptionally high calibre of applicants but Matt's passion, insight and experience stood out. Research and planning are critical to what Thinkbox does and we're proud of the reputation we have built. Matt is the ideal person to take this into the future.'
