Technology veteran James Powell is to join Nielsen as Global Chief Technology Officer, from July 6th, from Thomson Reuters where he is EVP and CTO.Powell has spent the last dozen years at the business and financial information giant, helping to drive transformational technological change. Prior to this, he held technology and data positions at Solace Systems, Citadel Investment Group and TIBCO Finance Technology. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Robotics from Imperial College London, England.
In his new role, Powell will oversee Nielsen's technology, engineering and data science teams with the aim of making operations more 'accessible, interoperable and nimble'. COO Brian West, to whom he will report, comments: 'James' proven ability to deliver will be a critical asset as we continue to leverage emerging technologies to strengthen the power of our data assets. Nielsen has a strong technology foundation, and James' expertise will be a significant boost to our overall technology strategy'.
