US-based BI / big data visualization and analytics provider Tableau Software has acquired Infoactive, an infographics web app start-up based in Montreal, Canada. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.Founded in 2012 by Trina Chiasson and Daniel Roberts, Infoactive converts live data into mobile-friendly interactive infographics, which can be used to visualize and explore information. As part of the acquisition, which is the first ever for Seattle-based Tableau, Infoactive will wind down over the coming months and its three employees - the two founders and developer Dorian Scheidt - will join Tableau's development team.
Dave Story, VP of Mobile and Strategic Growth at Tableau, comments: 'The Infoactive team will be a great addition to the Tableau family. Their experience in data and design as well as building mobile and cloud sharing products will be a great asset to our development team'.
