GfK has unveiled a tool called Connected Consumer Index, to provide a single measure of how much, and on what devices, consumers in 78 countries and eight regions connect with each other and with digital content. The index shows which countries have the most connected consumers, both overall and in detail across eleven different device types - smartphone, tablet, mobile PC, desktop PC, wearables, smart TV, TV set-top box, videogame console, e-reader, connected car and smart home. Data has been combined from across several of the group's ongoing research streams, to show the changing trends over the past five years and provide a forecast for the current year.
Kevin Walsh, Director of Trends and Forecasting, comments: 'As the technology markets mature, we are increasingly seeing that local country drivers are having a relatively bigger impact on connectivity growth, as opposed to global or regional trends - with consumers connecting in ever bigger numbers and different ways'.
