US-based social media analytics firm NetBase has expanded in to Europe with the opening of offices in London, Paris and Heidelberg; all led by Jose Puyol who currently serves as VP and General Manager of the firm's Agency and Digital Practice.
NetBase, which last year completed a $15.2m round of funding, develops social media tools to analyse consumer opinion, emotion and behaviour. The company has developed a natural language processing (NLP) engine which is combined with other text analytics and machine learning to process millions of posts on a daily basis.
Puyol (pictured), who will head up the European operation as Vice President Europe, joined the firm in 2010. Previously, he held senior sales and marketing positions at consumer behaviour analyst Panoramix Global, trend spotting specialist Iconoculture, and consumer intelligence firm Mintel.
London will act as the company's European headquarters, and the firm already has fifteen employees in the region, with plans to recruit additional sales, account management, 'customer success', and social media analyst professionals.
Puyol says the expansion reflects both rapid growth in European demand for the firm's solution, and 'the need of global customers with a major presence in Europe for a consistent approach to their business operations worldwide'.
