In New York, GfK has promoted media research veteran Gregg Lindner to the role of Managing Director of its media and consumer research division GfK MRI.
MRI was founded in 1979 and provides magazine audience ratings, multimedia research data and insights into consumer behaviour and motivations. The firm became part of GfK in 2005 and was rebranded as GfK MRI in 2010. Lindner (pictured) joined the business last year in the new position of EVP of Media Research, after more than 25 years at Arbitron. While at Scarborough Research - a joint venture between Arbitron and Nielsen - he managed the day-to-day operations of the business, including sales, product development, research and operations. He then served as EVP, Service Innovation, and Chief Research Officer at Arbitron, and after the latter firm was acquired by Nielsen, he worked with the Media Rating Council (MRC) before joining GfK.
Gary Cofer, Chief Commercial Officer of GfK in North America, comments: 'In a world where media and technology are constantly evolving, we are thrilled to have such a seasoned and disciplined leader ready to guide GfK MRI. Gregg understands the key elements of GfK MRI's success and the trust it has built with clients; but he also has the foresight and wisdom to see where the business needs to go next and how to get there'.
