Energy sector data firm Verisk Analytics has acquired the data and subscription business of Quest Offshore Resources, which supplies market intelligence to the offshore oil and gas sectors. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.Quest Offshore provides market intelligence through subscriptions to eight proprietary market forecast databases, and also offers advisory services in the sector. The deal will see the data and subscriptions business become part of Verisk-owned Wood Mackenzie, which itself provides insights, data and analysis for the energy, chemicals, metals and mining industries. This will expand Wood Mackenzie's offshore supply chain intelligence business, Infield, to offer clients 'comprehensive and granular' offshore oil and gas data.
Neal Anderson (pictured), President of Wood Mackenzie, comments: 'Through this acquisition, we're now able to draw together our own upstream data set and analysis, which include the expertise offered by Infield, with the proprietary systems developed by Quest Offshore's data and subscriptions business. This enhanced offering will give clients the commercial edge to develop offshore opportunities at a time when every new investment must work harder'.
