San Francisco-based mobile targeting specialist TapFwd has raised $3m in a seed round of funding, for use in expanding and enhancing Cerebro, its mobile data marketplace.TapFwd gathers data across off-line, online and mobile channels, and maps it to device IDs to create a unified view of the individuals behind more than 500 million mobile devices. Resulting data is used by mobile ad networks, publishers and marketers to build audience segments by categories such as purchase history, and demographics, and then export that data to target ads across any network.
The new seed funding round was led by Partech Ventures and Ad Tech Heavy Hitters, with participation from AngelPad, Boldstart Ventures, Vaizra Investments,and Tekton Ventures, as well as four prominent angel investors. TapFwd will also use the round to hire a salesperson and two more engineers.
