In the UK, consumer insight and engagement specialist Audiense has raised £3.8m in a round of funding, which it will use to support its growth plans. These include ramping up sales and marketing, adding new platform functionality, and expanding to North America. The firm is based in London and helps clients find, identify and connect with individuals and audience segments through social media profiles and other means. Among the attributes analysed is 'personality', for which it partners with natural language processing and machine learning big data platform IBM Watson.
New funding has been led by Internet entrepreneur Mel Morris, who is the former Chairman of King Digital, creator of the Candy Crush mobile game. Javier Burón (pictured), co-founder and CEO of Audiense, comments: 'Four thousand Audiense customers are already enjoying the benefits of our SaaS capabilities, but we're only just scratching the surface of the market. Companies are beginning to understand how vital consumer insights are to their future success or even to their continued existence. Massively positive feedback from our rapidly growing customer base would suggest we have the right solution at exactly the right time'.
