Nielsen has begun working with Audiweb, the Italian Online Joint Industry Committee, on the terms of an agreement for further development of the country's audience measurement system.Nine years ago, Nielsen was selected by Audiweb to provide a system to monitor digital media in Italy. At the time, the Nielsen agreement included areas such as independent measurement of Internet usage based on a panel of the online population, delivery of census-based measurement services, and development of an enhanced planning tool for online media planners.
The two organisations have now signed a letter of intent to agree terms of a contract to develop 'Audiweb 2.0', focused on evolving and future-proofing the current audience measurement system. Toni Petra (pictured), EVP of Nielsen's International Watch, comments: 'We are delighted to have signed a letter of intent with Audiweb, this is a fundamental step to finally launching Nielsen's ratings solutions in Italy. The measurement of online viewership is an increasingly complex activity and we value the continued partnership with Audiweb'.
