US-based online physician community SERMO has launched a 'Drug Ratings' tool, which it says is the first global peer-to-peer prescription drug review system sourced exclusively from verified licensed physicians.Acquired by healthcare researcher WorldOne in 2012, SERMO has a network of 650,000 physicians, through which members can share their opinions. In beta, the firm's new Drug Ratings solution gathered more than quarter of a million ratings and 20,000 comments from doctors. Integrated into the SERMO network. Drug Ratings allows physicians to research, rate and share their direct experiences in real-time, and gain a deeper look at treatments before they prescribe.
CEO Peter Kirk (pictured) comments: 'We believe Drug Ratings will change the way physicians prescribe drugs because they will have the ability to weigh thousands of peer insights when making treatment decisions. Manufacturers and insurers have been calling the shots when it comes to the evaluation and adoption of drugs in recent decades; Drug Ratings levels the playing field. It gives doctors back their voice in this important discussion'.
