In the US, Forrester Research has experienced a cybersecurity attack, limited to content relating to the market data available to clients through Forrester.com.Forrester Research provides advice on the potential impact of technology, while offering quant research on consumer technology adoption as well as enterprise IT spending, research-based consulting and advisory services, events, and workshops. In a blog post, Chief Business Technology Officer Steven Peltzman said the attackers had used valid credentials for the Forrester.com site, which had been stolen, and Forrester reassured stakeholders that there is no evidence that confidential client data, financial information, or confidential employee data had been accessed. The firm is continuing to investigate the incident, and has notified the authorities to enable law enforcement to take further action as needed.
CEO and founder George Colony (pictured) comments: 'We recognize that hackers will attack attractive targets - in this case, our research IP. We also understand there is a trade-off between making it easy for our clients to access our research and security measures. We feel that we have taken a common-sense approach to those two priorities; however, we will continuously look at that balance to respond to changing cybersecurity risk'.
