TV audience rating body BARC India has elected AAAI President Nakul Chopra as its third Chairman.
BARC (The Broadcast Audience Research Council of India) was launched in 2015, and later that year partnered with Nielsen/Kantar joint venture TAM India to form a new meter management company providing ratings data as the 'sole trading currency' for the country. In the summer, BARC appointed Nielsen India as its primary digital measurement partner, as it looks to build its EKAM cross-channel measurement solution. The first product under the EKAM brand, Pulse, will measure video ad campaigns daily to help users evaluate and optimize their spend.
Chopra (pictured) is currently President of the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) and Senior Advisor to Publicis Communications. He succeeds Viacom 18 Group CEO Sudhanshu Vats, who has completed his one-year tenure as Chairman. BARC India CEO Partho Dasgupta comments: 'I am thankful to Sudhanshu for his guidance and support to the team. Our aim has always been to successfully meet the growing and emerging needs of industry. Our focus now is to establish ourselves as an insights company. Nakul in his new role as BARC India Chairman will be a great driving force in launching our digital measurement products, expanding sample homes via RPD, and launching a suite of new products'.
