Chief Commercial Officer Peter Duffy is leaving UK-based low-cost airline easyJet, which will not look for a direct replacement but will be recruiting a Chief Data Officer.Duffy held senior roles at Barclays Bank before becoming Marketing Director at Audi UK in 2007. After four years he moved to easy Jet, where he was promoted to the CCO role in late 2016 - but CEO Johan Lundgren now says it was agreed it was the 'right time' for Duffy to leave the business.
As part of ongoing restructuring, the airline will now create a Chief Data Officer, who will report to Lundgren and 'give greater focus and weight to the airline's use of data to improve the customer proposition, drive revenue, reduce cost and improve operational reliability'. Although other senior positions are also changing, marketing publication www.thedrum.com positioned the moves as a 'sign of the times' swap, shedding a senior marketing role and adding a data specialist.
