In the US, Public Insight, a company which pulls information from a wide range of publicly available and licensed data sources to produce actionable analysis for clients, has launched a Data-as-a-Service platform offering rapid benchmarking and regional market analysis.
The new tools format and integrate data from different sources for clients to analyse using BI packages like Tableau and Microsoft Power BI; and are available to the platform's existing registered users for free, with data extracts priced on a per-1,000 basis. Sources include the U.S. Census, American Community Survey, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Centers for Disease Control, as well as benchmark data covering hospitals, nursing homes and colleges. The company also aims to add in data from commercial firms at a fraction of the usual cost, via strategic partnerships.
CEO Dan Quigg believes data 'should be available on a usage basis the way any other service is purchased', and comments: 'This new service makes complex data instantly consumable and affordable to a much larger cross-section of analysts'.
