UK-based, tech-enabled customer insights platform Streetbees has appointed Paul Ahern as Chief Growth Officer and Gideon Summerfield as Vice President of Product, while Dan Medlock joins as Finance Director.Streetbees combines artificial intelligence and geolocation technology to collect data from more than one million users (or 'bees') across 150 countries. Bees use the firm's chat-style app to share moments from their daily lives through videos, photos and text. In March, the company raised $12m in a Series A round of funding, which it is using to further develop its 'Always On' machine learning technology and expand its UK and US teams.
Ahern, the first-ever investor in Streetbees, joins from the London office of strategy consultancy Parthenon EY, where he was responsible for leading all private and equity work. Prior to this, he turned around a retail pharmacy in Ireland. Summerfield was formerly Global Head of Product at Centrica's Smart Home unit Hive, before which he led the Sky TV product team that built the Sky Q set-top box, and earlier drove the roll-out of the BBC iPlayer onto millions of set-top boxes, TVs and games consoles. Medlock joins from BT, where he led the Finance team for the UK cybersecurity division of BT Group, and led Commercial Finance during the expansion of the international cybersecurity unit. Before BT, he co-founded a start-up and consulted on M&A with KPMG, focusing on technology and digital media in the UK.
