OfficeReports Upgrade Promises 'Do It All in Excel'

May 22 2018

Danish MR software provider OfficeReports has released a new version of its Excel-based Analytics tool, allowing researchers to produce new kinds of Pivot Table combining counts, percentages, mean values and statistical test results.

Fred BalkenendeOfficeReports was launched in Copenhagen in June 2013 by the creators of data collection survey software tool TricTrac, Torben Laustsen and Fred Balkenende. The suite converts the key Microsoft Office packages software into survey analysis and reporting programmes which can read in raw data and output complex cross-tabular and statistical analysis, and in 2016 added a function linking data from Excel ranges to PowerPoint tables, charts and shapes. Raw survey data can be imported from a variety of data formats or used by direct integration with SurveyMonkey or SurveyGizmo, and outputs are standard XML Office documents (.xlsx and .pptx).

The new version 8 of the tool treats all tables created with the suite as Pivot Tables, with a side bar allowing users to change the variables and filters. The resulting tables can show counts together with percentages, and supports weighting, Nets and T-tests and Z-tests for 2 significance levels at the same time. The company says it can also show other statistics like 'Medians' - 'All important Market Research functionality which is not available in the Excel PivotTable'.

Balkenende (pictured) comments: 'The ordinary Excel PivotTable is lacking a lot of statistical functionality in those cases where we are dealing with samples. OfficeReports Analytics adds not only significance tests, but for example also weighting and low base notation. Adding OfficeReports Analytics to the already extensive analytics capacities of Excel itself, makes Excel a very powerful crosstab tool for Market Research. You do not need a stand-alone crosstab tool anymore, you can do it all in Excel'.
