Streaming TV Specialist Conviva Hires Former Turn CEO

In California, streaming TV measurement specialist Conviva has appointed Bill Demas as CEO, and John Zelenka as SVP of Global Sales.

Co-founder Hui Zhang moves to the twin roles of Chief Scientist and Chairman of the Board, working closely with Demas. His role will include driving new product development in streaming TV content, audience, and monetization measurement & analytics.

Clients including HBO, Sky and Turner use Conviva's Video AI Platform for insights concerning consumer in-screen viewing experience, and connect these metrics to key business outcomes. The technology is used to maximize subscriber retention and growth, and to understand content and viewing trends.

Before joining Conviva, Demas was CEO at Shopkick, and earlier he held the top job at Turn, driving development of its integrated, real-time digital advertising hub and leading growth in revenue from around $10m to more than $400m. Earlier he spent more than four years at Overture/Yahoo! Driving product and distribution relationships with Yahoo!, Microsoft and other major digital publishers.

Zelenka will manage the worldwide sales, customer success, and business development teams. His experience, which will be instrumental in scaling up Conviva's operations, comes from 5 years at Tribune Media Services, three and a half at TiVo and most recently three at Gracenote, now a Nielsen subsidiary.
