UK food and drink industry charity IGD has appointed Susan Barratt as Chief Executive Officer, replacing Joanne Denney-Finch, who stepped down in September after twenty years with the organisation. Barratt takes up her new role on 1st January 2019.IGD has a trading subsidiary that provides commercial services, with profits fed back into the charity. The charity manages initiatives driven by research and best practice relating to science, technology and economics in the food and grocery industry, and trains people in the sector or joining it. In addition, it supplies intelligence on shoppers, retailing and supply chains, and on wider issues such as health, nutrition, sustainability and economics.
Barratt (pictured) joins with national and international experience across FMCG. Most recently, she served as CEO of Nature's Way foods, leading the company for more than a decade. Prior to this, she was CEO of brewery Eldridge Pope, and she held senior roles at Whitbread and Geest. In addition, she is a Non-Executive Director of Scottish soft drink manufacturer A.G. Barr and pies and quiches producer Higgidy, and she has served on the IGD Board as a Trustee since 2016.
