WPP-owned media agency network Mindshare has appointed former Merkle exec Shane McAndrew as Chief Data Strategy Officer for the US.
Mindshare is part of WPP's media investment management division GroupM and has 116 offices in 86 countries. McAndrew (pictured) joins with more than twenty years' experience across digital, marketing and ad technology. He joins from data-driven performance marketing agency Merkle, where he most recently served as SVP, Global Product Growth, responsible for global business and client development, regional go-to-market strategy, and the establishment of best practices and training. Previously, he was the company's Head of Audience Strategy & Investment, and VP Strategy & Planning. Earlier, McAndrew worked for marketing intelligence firm Visual IQ as VP Global Client Services, and for Publicis-owned ad agency group Moxie as SVP, Performance Marketing and Analytics.
In his new role, he is tasked with combining 'the creativity of communications planning with the science of data and analytics'. US CEO Adam Gerhart comments: 'With his collaborative leadership style and future-forward vision, Shane will capitalize on the collective intelligence across our teams to deliver data-driven plans and innovations that solve our client's most complex challenges. Data is only as good as the imagination that uses it, and Shane is the rare talent that can both galvanize and inspire to bring out the very best of our teams and provoke our clients to push in new directions'.
