In the US, retail information provider The NPD Group has appointed Darren Person as Chief Data Strategy Officer, leading development of the company's tech platform.Person (pictured) joins from global information and analytics company RELX Group, formerly known as Reed Elsevier. During his nine years with the firm, he held a number of roles including Chief Architect and CTO, and most recently he served as SVP/CTO Platform & Capabilities, helping drive the firm's switch from print to digital. Earlier, he was the CTO for CBS Television Stations Digital Media Group, and held senior technology and product leadership roles with Lifetime Entertainment, Adecco and USA Networks.
Commenting on the appointment, CEO Karyn Schoenbart said: 'Changing consumer behavior and dramatic shifts at retail require new types of data, delivered in new ways. Darren's expertise in core technologies including natural language processing, big data, cloud computing, and analytics will be a valuable asset as we introduce new data sets and methodologies to provide clients in more than twenty industries with the most accurate and actionable reads of their markets'.
