In the UK, online food ordering and delivery service Just Eat has hired easyJet exec Alberto Rey Villaverde as Chief Data Officer, starting on 11th March.London-based Just Eat provides an app through which customers can search for local takeaway restaurants, place orders and pay online. Villaverde will join from budget airline easyJet, where he has worked for nearly thirteen years, most recently serving as Head of Data Science & Yield. During his time there, he led efforts to adopt advanced analytics within different areas of the business.
In his new role, Villaverde will be responsible for leading Just Eat's Analytics & Business Insights and Data Science teams, covering all aspects of business information, management information and reporting, as well as artificial intelligence, algorithmic development and machine learning.
Commenting on the appointment, Peter Duffy, Interim CEO, who was previously easyJet's Chief Commercial Officer, said: 'Alberto's expertise will help to position Just Eat as the market leader in data and analytics, as we further personalise our service and deliver our vision of 'Serving the World's Greatest Menu'.
