Canadian pollster Angus Reid has launched a new opinion and market research agency called Angus Reid Global, led by his former colleague Ed Morawski, who has been appointed President and COO.
Reid (pictured) began his career as a Sociology Professor at the University of Manitoba, before establishing polling company the Angus Reid Group, which he later sold to Ipsos for a reported $100m; and in 2000 he and his son Andrew founded survey tech specialist Vision Critical. In 2014, Angus Reid (pictured) 'retired' from Vision Critical to set up an independent public opinion research organization called the Angus Reid Institute, using some of the funds from his $10.5m sale of company shares.
Last year, Reid and Steve Mossop, the founder of opinion polling and consumer research specialist Insights West, revived the name Angus Reid Forum for a new company, which then acquired Insights West's 'Your Insights Panel'. The new firm Angus Reid Global is centered on the mobile-first Angus Reid Forum, comprised of a representative and inclusive group of Canadians.
Commenting on the latest launch, Reid said: 'Over the past 40 years, ten million people across Canada have participated in Angus Reid surveys - answering the questions that matter to the country and to decision-makers. With this new company, that tradition of trust and excellence meets the mobile-social-digital age, backed by a team that is passionate about delivering insightful data that informs decisions across all sectors of our society and economy'.
Morawski, who previously led Angus Reid Strategies, Vision Critical, and Maru/Matchbox, is joined by a team of research and opinion community experts. This includes former Maru/Vision Critical colleagues Demetre Eliopoulos as SVP and Managing Director of the company's public affairs consultancy; Cailey Asher as SVP of Strategy and Development; and Sonia Bishop as SVP of Operations, heading up panel operations.
