UK research and data firm Delineate has acquired survey and opinion research business Opinion.Life for an undisclosed sum.Founded in 2016 by former BT research head James 'JT' Turner (pictured), Delineate combines opinion research, technology and data science to provide insight solutions for marketing and communication challenges. A year after setting up Delineate, Turner and political and behavioural data scientist Zsolt Kiss launched the Opinion.Life business as a 'challenger' polling company which uses a proprietary set of algorithms, built on data and behavioural science, to better predict consumer opinions.
With the acquisition, Turner will continue to serve as CEO for the enlarged group, while Kiss will become a non-executive Director of Delineate, advising the company on data science methodologies. Turner says the main driver for the buy was to bring the proprietary predictive methodologies built into Opinion.Life to a wider set of clients, and across a deeper set of products and services.
'The market research eco-system is going through a fundamental shift in how it collects, treats and reports data and insights, and we strongly believe in fusing the best of data science techniques with more traditional opinion research to create best-in-class products. With this acquisition, we will be able to deliver better, more predictive insights than ever before' Turner adds.
