GfK Buys SoHealthAsia

The GfK Group has acquired a 100% holding in Hong Kong-based SoHealthAsia, a pharma and healthcare MR and consultancy firm. GfK describes the purchase as a first step towards expanding its healthcare network in the main Asian markets.

Founded in 2003, SoHealthAsia has branches in Hong Kong and Singapore, and provides information and consultancy services to companies working in the Asian pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. It offers ad tracking services along with name, brand and new product testing.

Scott Davies, founder and current owner of the company, says that the takeover will enable his firm to offer a wider range of improved research services. Wilhelm Wessels, a member of the GfK Management Board responsible for healthcare, says that the venture 'will further strengthen our capacity in Asia, and therefore our healthcare network as a whole'.
