US business research company AberdeenGroup has bought Canadian firm CyberManagement Consulting for an undisclosed sum. William Mougayar, founder and President of CyberManagement, joins Aberdeen as VP and Research Services Director, IT Strategy Agenda - a service aimed at CIOs.
Mougayar's responsibilities will include the development of research initiatives focusing on the impact of IT on business objectives. He brings with him 23 years of experience in high-tech industry. Before founding CyberManagement in 1995, he spent 14 years at Hewlett-Packard in sales and marketing management roles. He is the best-selling author of Opening Digital Markets, and also co-authored The Business Internet and Intranets: A Manager's Guide to Key Terms and Concepts.
Aberdeen's CEO, Jamie Bedard, said the purchase will allow the company to provide 'in-depth benchmarks, strategic insight, and education on business-to-IT linkage challenges'. Last year, Bedard predicted that the company would increase its acquisitions, and it bought Tech-Clarity - another US research and consulting firm - in May of this year. Mougayar described the sale of his company as 'a very exciting opportunity as we transition my consulting practice, intellectual capital, and relationships to expand the Aberdeen portfolio'.
