GfK Healthcare has opened a new healthcare division in Thailand, adding to its existing regional base in Hong Kong. The company says the move represents a new strategy of expansion into local markets in Asia.
The new Thai division will be led by Alan John, who has worked in healthcare MR for more than 20 years - both for agencies (including TNS and IMS Health) and clients. While at IMS Health, he spent two years in Japan, and has subsequently worked with Japanese clients for ten years.
Explaining the new expansion strategy, GfK Healthcare Asia's Scott Davies said: 'We believe it is going to be increasingly important to have client servicing capability on the ground in local markets.' He described Thailand as 'a very important and rapidly growing healthcare market'.
