US marketing and communications specialist HCD Research is opening satellite offices in Hungary and China in order to work more closely with European and Asian suppliers and increase its international presence.
The company chose to locate in Hungary due to its technology-savvy population and easy access to major European markets. The new office in Budapest will be headed by Senior Research Consultant Imre Varga, who will be responsible for new business development and project management.
Varga joined HCD five years ago as a Senior Analyst, responsible for designing and analysing quantitative research studies for healthcare clients. Prior to this, he worked as a specialist in life insurance product development with the Merrill Lynch Insurance Group.
According to Glenn Kessler, co-founder and Managing Partner: 'Our healthcare and entertainment research businesses have grown significantly in Europe, so this is an opportune time to establish a greater presence there.'
The move into China was prompted by the country's rapid industrial development and its large population. Kessler also points out that 'the fact that it is gearing up to host the 2008 Olympics, makes it an ideal location to expand our international communications research business'.
The China office will be headed by Senior Marketing Consultant Yan Liu Johnson, who will take responsibility for new business development, marketing research and project management. Prior to working at HCD, she worked for Accenture, AT Kearney and McKinsey in China.
HCD, which is based in Flemington, NJ, developed readmylipz.com, a political ad testing web site for the 2004 presidential campaign. The company is online at www.hcdi.net
