The Council for Marketing and Opinion Research (CMOR), the US body which promotes survey research and acts an advocate on legislative issues, has appointed Michael Mermelstein of Evans McDonough Company, Inc, as the new Co-Chair of its Government Affairs Committee. He replaces previous Co-Chair, Bob Cohen.
Mermelstein, who joins current Co-Chair Susan Pinkus of the Los Angeles Times, has been a member of CMOR's Government Affairs Committee for 13 years and has served on the organisation's Board of Directors. He is also the Chair of the Advisory Group of the Marketing Research Association (MRA), and served as MRA President in 2003. He has worked as Field Director for electoral research specialists Evans McDonough Company, since 2001, and was previously VP for Business Development at Field Facts Worldwide. He has a BA from the State College of New York at Oneonta where he majored in History and Political Science.
CMOR's Director of Operations, Donna Gillin, says the organisation is 'thrilled' to welcome Mermelstein. 'Michael is a veteran of many of our most important issues including the Do-Not-Call registry and has been actively involved and knowledgeable about government affairs issues. We look forward to gaining his unique and vast insight as Co-Chair.'
Pinkus praised the efforts of her outgoing Co-Chair Cohen, who is President and CEO of Scarborough Research, a past chair of CASRO and a member of the Market Research Council. 'Bob was a strong asset and leader to CMOR's Government Affairs program during his term.'
