New ACNielsen Service to Track Products in US

October 31 2006

ItemFinder, a new web-based service designed to satisfy customer "where to buy" needs for specific products, has been launched this week by ACNielsen in the US. The service provides access to over 38,000 stores across the food, drug, mass, dollar, and liquor channels.

The service uses the agency's Scantrack weekly store-level consumption data to determine the in-stock position for items and combines it with the company's TDLinx retail location data which allows consumers to do city/state or post-code-based searches on the manufacturer's website for the nearest store locations at which to purchase desired products. Consumer search results include convenient links to maps from Google and Yahoo! to further help the consumer find the nearest store.

ItemFinder also aims to provide manufacturer clients with valuable insights about product and geography searches through monthly consumer search activity reporting, which will help them make better product distribution decisions.

According to Rob Holland, Senior VP, ACNielsen Marketing – Retail Measurement Services, "With ACNielsen ItemFinder, manufacturers are now able to satisfy consumers "where to buy" needs simply, quickly and economically via a new, interactive component on their websites and build consumer loyalty in the process. Manufacturers benefit by being able to provide consumers with every avenue to buy their products, and consumers benefit by being able to easily locate new or harder-to-find items in their local stores."

The company is online at www.acnielsen.com
