Ipsos has appointed technology market research specialist Brian Smith as Vice President in its MediaCT division, which specializes in researching media, content, and technology.Smith joins from Microsoft's online service group, where his role involved analyzing Google and Yahoo! Strategy using both primary research and competitive intelligence. His career in the sector began in the 1980s, since when, he has worked with a number of technology firms, including start-ups and global firms. He has a Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with study in persuasion and social influence.

'His career has followed the explosive boom of the technology sector very closely, and he has been close to the center of much of its excitement and energy.'
Ipsos MediaCT specialises in researching the converging media, content, telecoms and technology industries. In March, 'Newsweek Magazine' veteran Mark Kostelec joined the division as SVP of Sales & Marketing.
