In the US, Abrams Consulting Group (ACG) - a market research firm specializing in auto rental and travel industry data and trends - has opened a business unit focused exclusively on advisory services for CarSharing initiatives. The new Abrams CarSharing Advisors (ACA) division will be led by Julian Espiritu, a veteran of the auto rental and CarSharing industries who most recently worked as as Head of the New York operations of Zipcar.
CarSharing, which began as an environmental movement, has now been available in Europe for decades. In the mid-90s, CarSharing became popular in the US, where two companies, Flexcar and Zipcar were founded as for-profit businesses.
'We work with clients to look beyond the horizon, to challenge existing business models, and adjust to changes in consumer behavior and market dynamics,' explained President Neil Abrams. 'ACA has been formed to assist existing and new businesses, corporate fleet operators, and others who have short-term transportation needs, to exploit the enormous value proposition offered by CarSharing.'
New York-based ACG was formed in 1982 to offer operations analyses, performance benchmarking and metrics, competitive analysis, and a full range of market research and data reporting services to the auto rental sector.
