Similarweb Buys App Analytics Specialist 42matters

July 2 2024

Tel Aviv-based digital market intelligence company Similarweb has acquired app intelligence provider 42matters, which is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Or OfferSimilarweb uses proprietary software to understand online behavior, analyse traffic and provide engagement statistics including the behavior of visitors to similar kinds of sites. Revenue for 2023 was up 13% to $218.0m, and the fourth quarter of the year saw it move into profit.

42matters says its app data covers twelve app store platforms, more than 2.1 million publishers, 2,600 SDKs and more than 20 million apps. Providing a major boost to Similarweb's app analytics capabilities, the buy adds 42matters' advanced solutions for app store data, app engagement data, and mobile SDK data, allowing app owner clients to compare their performance with competitor apps as well as giving them deeper insights into user engagement and technology stacks.

Similarweb CEO Or Offer comments: 'By incorporating 42matters' unique data and expertise, we are strengthening our app intelligence offering and also laying the foundations for further leadership and innovation in the digital intelligence market'. CEO Andrea Girardello says the firms 'share a vision for the future of app intelligence', and adds, 'As part of the Similarweb team, we will continue to serve our existing customers, while helping them integrate app data with web data for a more complete picture of the digital world'.

The acquired firm will operate for the time being as '42matters, a Similarweb company'.
