Consulting firm EY has launched an AI-based proprietary intelligence platform called EY Competitive Edge, promising real-time tailored insights on markets, companies and sectors based on data from a range of sources.
Member firms of UK-based Ernst & Young Global Limited operate as separate legal entities, under the umbrella name of EY, with teams in more than 150 countries providing help with assurance, consulting, law, strategy, tax and transactions. The new Competitive Edge solution integrates the group's global knowledge base with 'a vast array' of external data sources including databases, company reports and publicly available information. The database includes more than 26 million company profiles, 2.1m transactions and more than 325,000 company reports, while the system monitors news sites, trawling 677 million articles, and also pulls in data from EY proprietary thought leadership, surveys and interviews from around the globe.
The platform is driven by an engine incorporating Microsoft's Azure OpenAI, AI Search and Azure Cosmos DB, combining sector-specific data querying with a chat-style interface for data interrogation. EY Competitive Edge also makes use of the group's EY.ai unifying platform, complete with Microsoft tools, to further enhance data management and power applications such as target screening, company and customer insights, competitor analysis and market/sector assessments.
EY Global Strategy and Transactions Chief Innovation Officer Tony Qui (pictured) says the new solution 'offers the opportunity to collate, explore and interrogate a rich set of data and insights, and make better, more informed organic and inorganic strategic decisions'. Lydia Smyers, VP Northeast US, Americas Enterprise at Microsoft adds: 'Today's announcement marks another milestone in our longstanding relationship with the EY organization. The collaboration is a powerful combination of the EY organization's industry-leading capabilities and Microsoft's advanced data and AI platforms. Together, we are helping businesses to leverage deep insights that drive innovation and strategic growth'.
