Meltwater Adds Platform Features, Extends Partnerships

November 8 2024

In San Francisco, media, social and consumer intelligence firm Meltwater has enhanced its platform with an AI assistant, automated brand mention and sentiment analysis, and new collaboration and visualization features. The company also has strengthened its partnerships with Reddit and X.

Chris HackneyMeltwater has 2,300 employees in 50 offices across six continents, and says it analyses around a billion pieces of online content each day from six million sources, to help marcoms professionals make informed decisions. In May the company launched a program called ExpertsWithInsights, allowing clients and others to share their expertise in a community of thought leaders, intended as 'a hub for industry insights in the PR, communications and marketing fields'.

The new Year-End Product Release promises users time-savings, help in taking action based on strategic insights, and tools to help manage the most important stakeholder relationships. The AI-Powered Platform Assistant offers guidance in accomplishing common tasks on the platform, with faster ways to complete them. New Brand Analytics Tabs automate the task of analyzing and deriving brand insights from thousands of conversations and news stories and deliver customized analytics and quick insights into a brand's volume, narrative, sentiment and engagement. An AI-powered Journalist Search allows teams to 'easily find the best journalists for any given story', going beyond names and keywords to analyze the meaning and messaging of content to recommend the most relevant and best-fit contacts for a story. Updates to the Engage solution are designed to improve collaboration and visibility across teams when creating and managing brand-approved social posts, including multi-tier approvals to streamline collaboration across multiple reviewers and a new video editor within the platform.

Meltwater says it has also invested in improving its dataset. The expanded partnerships with Reddit and X will provide a more comprehensive view of news and social data. Users will now get complete access to public conversations through Reddit's extended firehose, while Meltwater now has the rights to resyndicate X content to customers with more advanced social intelligence needs, described as 'a first in the industry'.

Chief Product Officer Chris Hackney says the firm 'wants to ensure that [its] solutions are empowering teams to drive real impact in their organizations by reacting to fast developing conversations surrounding their brands, finding organic moments to engage and champion their customers, and building authentic relationships with influencers and journalists'.
